This problem really happened.
One geometry mistake that cost someone their job!
A construction crew was hired to build a circular driveway. The driveway area is a stonework annulus surrounding a small garden. When the cost estimate was made for the job, the contractor measured a 35 foot radius from the outer edge of the garden to the outer edge of the driveway. This radius was used to find the area of the circle to build.
Given that the inner radius is 12 feet and the cost per square foot is $3.25,
