virtual whiteboard

Choose one of the following to view. You will have the option to switch, if desired.

This will automatically look for updates every five seconds.

This will only update when you click a link asking it to do so.

Take a look at the Example Chat with Whiteboard to get a better idea of what this looks like in action.

How does this work?

I have a web page set up that I can write on with my Tablet PC. After writing or drawing something, I send the image to the web site. The “Automatic Refresh” whiteboard looks for an updated image every five seconds. If I have not posted anything new, it just keeps refreshing while it looks. The “Manual Refresh” whiteboard calls up the same web page, but it will only refresh when the viewer clicks the “Refresh” link at the top. You may use the menu links to switch between automatic and manual refreshing.

While I use the whiteboard, it is constantly changing. You may want to keep a particular image to refer to later. If you see something you want to print or save, click the “Capture Image” link. A new window will appear with the most current image. This window will have a menu bar that includes the “File” menu. You may print the image or save the image as a web page.

Suggestion: If you want to save or print the image, do so right away. Otherwise the saved or printed image may be an update different than what you captured. You may also use the “Print Screen” button to copy your entire screen, then paste the result into another program for saving.

I created this with my Tablet PC, Microsoft Word 2003, FrontPage 2003, some HTML programming, and a handful of java scripts that I found on some free web sites.

Enjoy!

Troubleshooting: If you have trouble with the auto refresh, try the manual refresh. You can always manually refresh the image by pressing F5 as long as the whiteboard is currently the active window on your desktop. You can also open the whiteboard as a full webpage, but you will need to refresh manually.
