The English Language Learner Program is made up of over 120 students from all over the world who are learning the English language while meeting graduation requirements. All courses are taught completely in English. Many students advance through the program and are then placed into the mainstream academic program.

English Learner Program Goals:

• To teach English learners to read, write, speak and master academic English.
• To provide core classes required for high school graduation as well as higher education
• To foster appreciation of the U.S. culture while preserving cultural identity

The English Learner Program offers English Language Development Courses:

ELD 1
ELD 2
ELD 3
Sheltered English

...as well as Sheltered courses using SDAIE methods (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English) in Math, Science, Social Studies and Health. SDAIE courses meet the same standards as non-SDAIE courses, however these courses are taught using special techniques and strategies designed for the English Language Learner.
