Welcome to Mr. Black's webpage. Now get ready to learn, Baby...
About my webpage. This page will provide you with general information about each of my classes, as well as extracurricular information. You can access your homework assignments by clicking on the "Daily Syllabus" link from the margin on the left. My page also allows you to get information on the tennis team, or learn how you can travel abroad with me over Spring Break.
About me. I moved to San Diego from Northern California during the summer of 1997. My first job in the San Dieguito District was at Earl Warren Middle School, where I worked from '97 until June of 2004. In the fall of 2005, I was fortunate enough to be among the founding staff at Canyon Crest. This school has grown so much in six years, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I have a Masters in Teaching and Educational Technology from National University and a Bachelors in Journalism from Cal Poly @ San Luis Obispo. I currently teach English and journalism while coaching the boys' and girls' varsity tennis teams. Besides teaching and coaching, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have a younger brother and sister who live in Northern California, and my parents have recently retired and are enjoying their life after work. I'm able to travel abroad with them every year, which makes the experience that much better. My interests include playing golf and tennis, an occasional game of Texas Hold 'Em, traveling, seeing live music, and reading (after all, I am an English teacher).
Need to find me? Here's a schedule of my classes for first term:
How to contact me. The best way to get in touch with me is via email at christopher.black@sduhsd.net.
Words to live by. “To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Ever tried? Ever failed? No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better." Samuel Beckett
"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." Groucho Marx
