Week of 11/28: This week, we will tie up any loose ends with the puzzle cube; sanding, fitting, painting. We will also prototype the container that will house the block if we were to sell it. The container must have the name of the product, colorful graphics, company name/logo, warnings, and any other information you feel important for the consumer. (Note: Remember to put your name and class period somewhere in the 'fine print'. I cannot give you credit if I don't know who you are!) |
KEY TERMS 1.4
*KEY TERMS 1.4* HOMEWORK You are to bring to class on THURSDAY two (2) print advertisements from two magazines. The two advertisements must be for the same or similar product, but each must target a different consumer group. Bring these ads to class on THURSDAY, DEC. 1st! Isometric Practice #2 |
On January 13th, we will have a speaker from FIDM (Fashion Instute of Design & Merchandising) for one-half of the period. The other half of the period, we will be doing the following: Working on specific problems encountered in Iso Practice #2. | |||||
January 26th (Period 4) and January 27th (Period 6):
|
Students will be given a design brief with a problem that they must employ their engineering design knowledge to solve. By applying the design process, students will research and sketch possible solutions to the given problem, work with an assigned team-mate to come up with the best solution from designs that were created independently, create a poster to showcase their findings and designs, then present their research and findings to the class. (Yes, this is possible to accomplish in two hours!) |

2/8: Lesson 2.2 Advanced Dimensioning and Tolerancing The drafting, dimensioning, and tolerancing standards are a design language that allow designers to clearly and accurately communicate their ideas about form and function to people all over the world, regardless of what language they speak. It is important that everyone involved with the design process understands the proper documentation of technical drawings to insure that the design will achieve its full potential. Mistakes to technical drawings could be costly for a company and result in a loss of profit which could cost people jobs. Drafting standards are a language all their own. It is a language that every designer must understand and become fluent in using. |
NOTE: From this point forward, any time you are directed to open a document that is found on the "Student Share (S:)" drive, you need to copy it and paste it into your IED folder in your (H:) drive so that you can access it in the future. AFTER YOU ARE FINISHED WITH THE FIGURES IN ‘ACTIVITY 2.1.3 -MAKING SKETCHES’:
ASSIGNMENT:

|
||||
|
2/10: Isometric Practice #2 Revisited: Continue modeling objects from Isometric Practice #2 Worksheets. Once these are completed, create the fully dimensioned .IDWs for each object.

|
2/22: Miniature Train Now that everyone can expertly model unrelated parts in Inventor, it's now time to model parts that will be put together. Students will model the parts of a Miniature Toy Train Engine to be assembled at a later date. |
Click here for the Train Engine parts specifications. CREATE A NEW PROJECT: Name it "TOY TRAIN". Follow the directions on the worksheet for the Train Engine parts, and model each one as indicated. Don't worry if it looks difficult; I'll help you all when I return from my sick leave. DO THE BEST YOU CAN!!!
