Homework Policy

Homework is assigned every night. It is to be done neatly and in pencil. Please remember to include the page number and heading. Homework is due the following class period. Homework may be handed back to you to be redone (Pre-Algebra only, Geometry Honors needs to make corrections before turning in the assignment). It is important to complete this as soon as possible so that you don't forget about it and understand the problems you missed. Redo work is due no later than the date written on the redo paper.  Redo work not turned back in will receive the original grade written on it.  Redo work turned in complete and correctly done will be given full credit. Late work will only be accepted with teacher permission and a parent signature. No late homework will be accepted after the day of the chapter test. No late homework will be accepted second semester. If you need help on your homework remember to call your study buddy or see me for help before school or after school. Homework makes up 1/3 of your final grade. Tests and Quizzes make up the remaining 2/3.

Pre-Algebra Homework Grading Rubric:

3 Points:

• All work is complete.
• Work is shown as modeled in class.
• Work demonstrates an understanding of the material (including all steps).

2 Points:

• All problems are attempted. 
• Student has not demonstrated mastery of the material
• Missing steps.
• Work is not legible.
• This paper can be redone for additional credit. Redoing this paper will help the student develop a stronger grasp of the material and class expectations.
• Redo due dates are written on the original assignment. Papers will not be accepted after this date.
• Redo work must be done on separate paper and turned in with the original paper.

1 Point:

• Work is incomplete, even one problem.
• Missing steps.
• Student has not demonstrated mastery of the material
• Student must get teacher permission to redo missing problems or work for additional credit.

0 Points:

• The wrong page is completed.
• More than half of the assignment is incomplete.
• No work is shown.
• The assignment is done in pen or does not follow the expected format.
• Student must get teacher permission to redo this assignment for additional credit.

Geometry Honors Grading Rubric:

2 Points:

• All work is complete
• Work is shown as modeled in class (including ALL steps)
• Work is clear and legible
• Title and heading are included and no more than two columns are used
• Work demonstrates an understanding of the material
• All correction requirements have been met

1 Point:

• All problems are attempted
• Student has not demonstrated mastery of the material, all corrections were not made
• Some steps are missing and not corrected
• Work is not legible or does not follow homework format

• Work is incomplete, even one problem
• Correction requirements were not met
• Homework was completed late, missing stamp

0 Points:

• The wrong page is completed
• A significant amount of the assignment is incomplete
• Significant steps are missing or format was not followed
• No work is shown or a calculator was used when not permitted
• The assignment is done in pen or does not follow the expected format
