  • Course outline
  • Student activities
  • Major topics/themes
  • Required and/or recommended reading
  • Special projects descriptions
  • Homework guidelines
  • Your own ideas
  • Use this as the "Home Page" for your class with links to the above

PRINT OUT THIS ENTIRE PAGE so you can refer to these basic design principles in the future. Then delete the contents of this cell.
  • Check your page frequently in the browser (FILE--PREVIEW IN BROWSER--REFRESH). Things always look different than you'd expect out there!
  • Make liberal use of spell check (TOOLS--SPELLING.)
  • Don't overcrowd!  Too much information is a turn-off. Don't feel compelled to fill the page. Less is more. If necessary, create a separate page.
  • Don't overcrowd with images.  Two many images make the page slow to load
  • Stay with just one or two theme elements; don't overdo it.
  • Use Times New Roman, Ariel, or Comic Sans fonts, since they are "browser friendly" across all platforms and will not change for the viewer.
  • Don't add information unless you plan to keep it current.
  • Use contrast in size of fonts to get attention.
  • Make sure your page has a title, (RIGHT CLICK--PAGE PROPERTIES--TITLE,) and that all images have titles (RIGHT CLICK--IMAGE PROPERTIES--TITLE)
  • Use frames with caution.  Not all browsers support them.
