Week of August 31st thru September 3rd:

Tuesday - August 31rst:  Welcome to CCA!  Review of Course Syllabus, Classroom Organization, and Required Materials.   Course Rules Game.  2)  Getting to Know You Activity 3)  Review of First Homework Assignment:  Personal Business Letter to Mrs. Caston - handout provided.

    Homework:  Return Parent/Student Signature sheet on back of Syllabus by this Friday.  2)  Make sure to bring a three-ring binder, paper and pen daily to class starting tomorrow.  3)  Review Homework instructions tonight - we will review assignment requirements tomorrow and I will provide you an example of how the letter should be formatted.  Perhaps create a list of ideas, or maybe even take a stab at writing the first body paragraph of your introductor letter.  Business Letter due this Friday, September 3rd. 

Wednesday - September 1rst:  1)  Class Organization Review.  Questions from students handouts about class discussed.  Cell Phone and Food Policies reviewed.  Sorry, no food or soda in classroom - water only.  3)  Set of All Passes (4) passed out for this quarter.  Please see me to get your passes if absent today.  4)  Business Letter Assignment - review of organizational requirements using my letter as a template.  Please follow the format of my letter and review the handout from yesterday to make sure your letter "looks" correct.  If your final draft looks similar to mine you should earn the full 10 points, but see me if you have any questions.  5)  MLA Format discussed.  First element of learning this format is how to properly write your name on papers you will turn in.  Please bring this practice blank paper to class with you tomorrow.  6)  Group Brainstorming Activity - lots of great ideas generated in a short period of time by both classes.  Well Done!  7)  Discussion of tomorrow's in class writing assignment.     

   Homework:  Bring Notebook, Paper, including MLA heading paper created today, and a pen (blue/black ink) for tomorrow's in class writing assignment.  2)  Return signed Student/Parent Course Syllabus agreement to class if you haven't already turned it in.  3)  Begin working on your Business Letter due this Friday.  Review the letter I prepared for your class to learn more about me, and to help you follow the required format.  Final wordprocessed draft due this Friday, September 3rd.
