Activities
During the month of September, freshman participate in a
Library Media Center orientation through English 9. In 10th grade,
students receive more detailed instructions in Internet and research searching
skills. Throughout every grade,
students receive instruction in researching and evaluating resources for their classroom
assignments. Instruction is done daily in large groups, small groups and
individually.
The
Library Media Center has 32
desktop Internet accessible computers, a teacher master station and 4 laptops. Thanks to the generosity
of Friends of the Library, Site Council and through other funding
sources, our Research Links page
http://access.gale.com/torreypines
contains excellent online resources. These resources are accessable
at school and home FREE to our students.
OPAC, our online catalog is also available 24/7 and is found on the
above web page.
Throughout the year, the Media Center is
proud to display classroom projects and student and community art. We
have also hosted
authors and guest speakers as well as "artists-in-residence" such as local
basket weavers and quilters.
The Library and Friends of the Library began a very
successful "Cutting-Edge Conversations" series in Spring 2004. The
theme is "Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things." If you would like to participate in
any of our activities, please contact Lisa Goldberg through email.

sponsored by Friends of the Library/TPHS Foundation for which proceeds directly benefit
our students. Please see the link below. Al will
