LOTF Found Poems
A found
poem is a poem you write by taking words or
short phrases from the text (novel,
longer poem, play, etc.) that you are reading.
You rearrange the words/phrases (like magnetic poetry!) to create your
own masterpiece.
You may
wish to “collect” words from the novel on your topic (write them down on some
note paper; you may even cut up the paper and move the words around to create
your poem). Then you can rearrange
the words to create your poem.
Today
you will be focusing on certain topics for your found poems.
You will write 1-3 found poems on your own paper totaling at least
15 lines.
Your choices for topics include:
1)
One
character (such as Ralph, Piggy, Jack, Samneric, Simon, Roger, Percival, Bill,
Johnny…) or two or more characters’ interactions.
2)
A symbol
presented in the novel.
3)
An idea
or theme presented in the novel.
