“Powder” Point of View Rewrite
The point
of view in a story (the narrator or “voice”) can affect how the story is told,
what information is given, characterization, tone, and how credible the story
is. You task is to take the story
“Powder” (pg. 687) and rewrite it from a new point of view: the first-person
point of view of one of the other characters in the story.
You should demonstrate your understanding of point of view by
incorporating into your writing the different parts of the story that this
character witnesses, as well as the different way that this character
experiences the same events. S/he
might use different language and tone than the original narrator as s/he tells
his/her version of the story. Your
rewritten story should be 1-2 pages in length.
(You should NOT simply copy out large sections of the story as it exists!)
