We will have our 2nd Annual For Arts Sake Donor Party & Student Art Show on May 20, 2001.  It will be an event not to be missed.  Send your donations into the TPHS Foundation attention Art Boosters to receive your personal invitation.     Alumni 1990 Foreign Exchange student Peter Weiler who lives in Budapest visited Fred and Robert  this summer.  He has created Hungary's portal page, has a syndicated cartoon(which he has given permission to put on this years art mug) and he is donating a piece of art for our opportunity drawing at this years Donor Party.His e-mail weiler@matavnet.hu   his website www.yellowface.com    The mural he did in the art room when he was a student here is still up.

Our Art Club kids have been invited to create a 9'X 12' artwork for Chalk "La Strada" in Little Italy on October 14 & 15th from 10-6:30pm.  They will be invited to attend a workshop by veteran street painters to teach them street painting techniques.  The organizer hopes to use our kids as part of their advertising for this cool event.  They expect 40,000 people to attend. Patty Fox will be doing a painting in this as well. So far we have: Trevor Williamson, Jennifer Lee, Juliet Batter, Tanya Renner, Michelle Pena, Danielle Chammas?, Emily Greenberg doing this. We will be selling raffle tickets for $3 a piece which will benefit the Monarch school for homeless teenagers and the first time offenders program for teenagers.  If you are interested in buying raffle tickets call Patty @(858) 792-0922 Update from Patti: Pablo Picasso will be your subject for the chalk painting.  You need to go to Fred get the picture of Picasso.  Come up with the number of committed chalk artists.  Then talke the picture and divide it up.  Next Tuesday at art club you should have of sub meeting of chalk painters with me.  I will put together a page with the map, etc on what they need to do.  I can take 7 kids.  Any more we need to find another driver.  Emily thought her parents could drive if necessary.  Someone needs to e-mail me the list of chalk painters that has been collected.  Okey dokey.  See you tuesday at noon. Art Club will participate at the Sask Family Night in the media center on October 24th from 6:30-8:30 pm  So far we have Michele Pena, Trevor Williamson and Patty Fox going to answer questions about the Art Club.

We will again be having figure drawing on Tuesdays after school.  Patty has been offered a teaching job at Woodrow Wilson Academy of International Studies after school.  She will be encouraging TPHS Art Club Students to do community service with her, it is time for us to reach out to the bigger arts community, lend a hand and become more exposed to what San Diego has to offer us.
