Marketing Principles - offered
Period 2 and 4 Instructor - Mr. Jim Anthony This course involves the management and analysis of marketing strategy, the application of the appropriate decision techniques in developing the overall marketing mix and in solving marketing problems. Topics include advertising, communications, promotional strategies, public relations and publicity, consumer behavior and business ethics. The course combines problem-solving instruction, speakers from the community, and hands-on projects utilizing computer applications, and community problem solving. |

Keyboarding - offered Periods 2
and 4, Instructor Mr. Jason Shanahan Students learn the basic operation of computers. Touch alphabetic keyboarding is emphasized with an introduction to word processing; formatting and editing personal letters; one and two-page reports, bibliographies, citing sources; and practice in keyboarding speed and accuracy. Recommended for business, professional and personal use of computers. Students will also learn the basics of PowerPoint, the presentation software program. |

Principles of Law - offered Period 3 Instructor - Mr. Jason Shanahan The purpose of this course is to introduce the concepts, terminology and processes of law and how they relate to our legal system. Wests Business and Personal Law is the text book to be used as a resource for needed foundations and excerpts from Fundamentals of Trial Techniques to assist in learning proper trial procedures. Participation in projects and a field trip will broaden the scope of the ideas learned in class and show the process of the "real-world" legal system. Finally, planning, preparing and performing the operations necessary for a complete trial and applying the information and concepts acquired throughout the semester will round out the course requirements.

Computer Programming - offered Period 5 Instructor - Mrs. Tammy Neuhaus Learning to create algorithms and write programs that not only work, but are "correct" is the primary activity in this class. Students will learn to write programs that are logical and efficient and that can be easily read and understood by humans as well as computers. The course encourages students to use standard control structures and program construction concepts to first produce a generic solution which can then by carried out using the command vocabulary and syntax rules of a specific language. |

Graphic Communications - offered Period 2 Instructor - Mr. Mike Edinger This semester-long desktop publishing course is lab-oriented and emphasizes hands-on computer use. It develops communication skills through the use of graphic elements. It will provide entry-level training for in-house publication art directors, as well as computerized graphics/design practitioners. Emphasis is placed on computer training in the use of page layout software, object-oriented drawing programs, and bit-mapped paint programs. Students review design, color, and typography theory and their applications to the digital and print media. |

ROP Desktop Publishing - offered Period 1 Instructor - Mr. Mike Edinger This year-long desktop publishing course is lab-oriented and emphasizes hands-on computer use. It will provide entry-level training for in-house publication art directors, computerized graphics/design practitioners, and multimedia technicians. Emphasis is placed on computer training in the use of page layout software, object-oriented drawing programs, bit-mapped paint programs, multimedia presentation software, and video capture and editing. While students will work with Windows-based Pentium computers, Macintosh users will also benefit, since all of the Adobe programs run essentially the same on that platform. |

Business Mathematics - offered Period 1 Instructor - Mr. Jason Shanahan This course is designed to introduce students to math concepts as they apply to the field of business and personal finances. Common formulas will be learned and basic math skills will be used, practiced and applied to class projects. In addition, the skills acquired will increase student awareness of the business world and help to build a foundation of basic work skills.
